Bath Rugby Ground | The Queensberry Hotel

Bath Rugby

Part of the city and part of its culture

The southwest of England as a whole is a hotbed of rugby union, and Bath’s been playing a prominent part in that since it was founded in 1865.

Gloucester, Bristol and teams from nearby south Wales have been part of the same scene, and fierce rivals, for years, but Bath’s historically punched above its weight for a city of its size, playing fast-paced, attractive rugby and winning trophies consistently, including being the first British side to win the European Cup, beating Brive 19-18 in Bordeaux in 1998. Our restaurant, the Michelin-starred Olive Tree, is proud to sponsor Bath Ladies Trojans, in their own words “a brilliant club, a real family and a sisterhood”.

The Recreation Ground (known as the Rec) is an atmospheric and lively place to watch a game. If you’re looking for a high-quality, independent, family-run hotel in Bath within easy reach of the ground, The Queensberry Hotel’s a perfect choice.

Bath play at in the English game’s top tier, the Gallagher Premiership, and compete in Europe too. This season, 2023-24, promises more excitement than ever, thanks to thanks to the signing from Racing 92 in France of Scottish superstar, Finn Russell, who regularly stars for Scotland as well as the British & Irish Lions.

Taking in a game and combining it with a meal in Bath’s only Michelin-star restaurant or a stay at luxury boutique hotel near the Rec (or both) is a real boost to a weekend in Bath, so why not have a look at their fixtures and then book yourself a room?
