Bath is most definitely a foodie paradise; the city is the birthplace of what is known most simply as a regional speciality but is, in fact, a bun that is known the world over. Let us not get ahead of ourselves – Sally Lunn, a young Huguenot baker and French refugee, called one of the oldest houses in Bath her home (the property was built in 1482) in the 17th century. From here she fashioned a type of yeast bread that is now a true delicacy; you can find out more here about the property, recipe and museum.
To honour this treat, we have created our Sally Lunn Foodie Experience. Relax in our decadent accommodation overnight with your very own Taste of Bath box, set yourself up for the day with a hearty, locally sourced breakfast and then embark on a foodie tour with Savouring Bath.
Taste of Bath create delicious artisan boxes sourced from within 15 miles of Bath – and whilst you are keeping it local, your visit would not be complete without a Savouring Bath tour. Sampling various food and drink, a knowledgeable tour guide will tell you all about the foodie culture in the city as well as nearby suppliers over a 2-3 hour period.
If you have always wanted to learn more about Bath’s culinary history and customs then this is an experience you will not want to miss. Just as our head chef Chris Cleghorn can accommodate various dietary requirements (you can see the FIVE and SEVEN variations here) so too can Savouring Bath.
This experience is only available when you book directly with our hotel click here to book.
