GQ October 2005
What?
A privately run, 29-room townhouse occupying a brace of Georgian properties
close to a hot tub of heritage must-sees.
Where?
Bath is the most uncitified of cities and has one of the more thriving
retail centres, thankfully bereft of the brandscapes that blight so many
other provincial hubs.
Why?
For husband-and-wife team Laurence and Helen Beere, who've refurbished
the rooms with high-end furnishings, LCD TVs and DAB digital radios to
attract , well, you.
When?
Go midweek, as Bath tends to fill up with city-break sightseers at the
weekend.
Which room?
Room 7, facing the street (not good), comes complete with a boat-sized
bath and dozens of ceiling-set halogens on dimmers for ultimate sex appeal
(very good).
What to say?
"Town-house hotels are the new gastro-pubs."
What not to say?
"What did the Romans ever do for us?"
