Five years on and stronger than
ever
– Laurence Beere writes…
Laurence Beere and his wife Helen took over the Queensberry nearly five
years ago. Laurence reports on what has been achieved in that time…
Since acquiring the hotel in 2003 we have spent our time developing the
business in every area. Sometimes it was hard to prioritise which aspects
needed immediate attention when we were so committed to a belief that
guests deserve to enjoy high standards of accommodation, excellent dining,
quality and caring service and above all at a fair price.
We strongly believe that whilst there are many luxury hotels in the world
who demand very high prices that mean they are exclusive, we wished to
create an experience that offered much of the same but in a far more approachable
manner. We hope that we have achieved in our ambition, but we - as always
- let our guests tell us the answer.
Nearly five years on from taking over The Queensberry, we are so proud
of what we have all achieved. Every bedroom has now been refurbished with
each having its own unique style. Kate Round of Jane Clayton & Co
has been instrumental in helping us achieve our vision and we are indebted
to her for her patience and support as well as her talent in bringing
together so many wonderful ideas.
The Olive Tree which began all our changes in the hotel
has continued to grow from strength to strength with an ever growing following
of regular guests who enjoy good food, good wine and great service.
However our greatest achievement has been the team that we have brought
together who have helped us realise this ambition. Many of our team have
now been with us for more than four years and have shared their thoughts
and been part of building the hotel as it is today. Without their passion
and enthusiasm for looking after every detail of our guests experience,
we would have been just another well designed hotel. Instead we are -
as told to us by our guests - a welcoming home from home!
